Mickey Solarek

Mickey Solarek brings a diverse background in athletics, coaching, education, and leadership that has shaped his approach to student-athlete development both on and off the field.

As a player, Mickey earned a reputation for consistency and versatility. He was a four-year varsity letter winner in baseball at Mitchell High School, where he ranked among the top players in the state in batting average his senior year and earned All-Area and All-Conference honors twice. He continued his playing career at Trinidad State Junior College, where he started at third base as a true freshman and helped his team win Region 9 and come within one game of the Junior College World Series. He later played at Central Christian College of Kansas, where he was named an NCCAA First Team All-American, Academic All-American, and one of the top hitters in the country. During his service in the United States Navy, he was also one of only 15 players selected for the All-Navy Softball Team.

Following his playing career, Mickey built a broad coaching résumé across baseball, softball, basketball, and football. His experience includes coaching at St. Mary’s High School, Doherty High School, Wasson High School, Northview High School, West Florida High School, Florida Canes Panhandle, and Gulf South Power. Along the way, he has worked with athletes across multiple age groups and competitive levels, helping them grow in skill, confidence, and discipline.

In addition to coaching, Mickey has also served in teaching roles at Wasson High School, Northview High School, and West Florida High School. His background in both athletics and education has allowed him to mentor students in ways that extend beyond competition, emphasizing accountability, structure, and personal growth.

Mickey’s educational background reflects his commitment to development and lifelong learning. He holds degrees from Trinidad State Junior College, George Washington University, Colorado State University Pueblo, the University of West Florida, and Liberty University, where he earned a master’s degree in Sport Management and Administration.

Mickey resides with his wife, Crystal, and their two children, Lily and Carter.
